Spelling

In Spelling this week, we are going to be working on common exception words again. Remember these words do not follow any spelling rules but it is very important that we learn how to spell them.

money, half, water, Christmas, whole, who, climb, eye, sugar, prove

Please complete look, cover, write and check for the spellings above. After you have done that please write them into sentences. Try and use some conjunctions in your sentences.

English Starter

To begin your English session today, I want you to practise using conjunctions. Please select a conjunction to use in the middle of the sentences below and write the sentences out in your neatest handwriting. Can you use a different conjunction in each sentence?

I am looking forward to coming back to school ________ I can see my friends.
I play on my bike ___________ I have had my tea.
My mum is kind _______ sometimes she gets grumpy.
I will buy an ice cream _____ I have enough money.

English

In English today, you are going to be creating diagrams with captions. A caption is a piece of text which goes underneath a diagram/picture. Have a look below to further your understanding.

Now, you are going to draw your own diagrams/pictures and create your own captions. You can choose to draw animals or you might do captions and pictures about your favourite toys or yourself. Be creative and see what you can produce. Some of you created some fantastic art work last week, why don’t you create captions for those animals?

Maths

Please complete the Maths Meeting below.

In Maths today, we are going to continue our work on place value and then tomorrow we will start to look at column subtraction.

Today we are going to look at different ways to create numbers. Watch the video below to further your understanding.

After you have watched the video, please look at the numbers below and using the same method as me, see how many ways you can create the number.

56 23 76 89 65

Challenge

Reading

To begin your reading session, please complete the 60 second read. Time yourself reading it twice and see if you can get less than a minute. After you have read it, please answer the questions.

After you have completed it, write down four questions you could ask someone else about the text. Remember the answer needs to be found in the text. Remember your question marks at the end of your sentence.

Science

In Science today, we are going to start our Year 2 learning on Plants. Last week, you recapped the parts of a flower and you did very well. Watch the video below to find out what you need to do today.

First Activity:

  1. Use the three headings from the video to draw and label plants/trees.

2. Go on a tree hunt in your garden or in your local area. Draw the tree that you can see. Look at the leaves from the tree and see what they are like and describe them. You might find they are brown and dead because Spring hasn’t arrived.

Well done Year 2!

Your learning for today is complete. I hope you have had a brilliant day, well done for working hard. I am looking forward to seeing the work which you complete.
