Good morning everyone. I hope you have all had a good weekend. We are now starting our final week of home learning, I am so pleased that I am going to see you all next week!

We have two zoom sessions a day for children who want to attend. The sessions are at 11am and 1.30pm and I will read a story during each session.

  • Share stories with your children daily, they are hugely important in their learning.
  • Please sing or say rhymes with your child. If you do not know the tune, don’t worry. Your child might know it, or you can make up a tune or you could always say it rather than sing it. See Day 1 for the words to some of our popular rhymes.
  • Please find opportunities for counting daily. This might be when playing with toys, having tea, or walking up the stairs.

Pre-nursery

Counting Movements – Ask your child to choose a number (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5). Then choose an action such as jump, clap or wave. Ask your child to complete the action the number of times they chose. Repeat using different numbers and different actions.

Maisy Mouse- watch the video of Maisy Mouse. Talk about Maisy’s bus journey. Talk with your child about different ways of travelling e.g. bike, car, train etc. Go on a pretend journey with your child using things you have around the house to support the play e.g. cushions might be seats in your car and a plastic plate could be a steering wheel.

Nursery

Phonics – Instrumental Sounds. The adult and child needs either an instrument or something that can make a sound e.g. spoon on a pan or a bottle with rice in. Play the instrument a certain number of times and count each one out loud as you do it. See if your child can copy your sound pattern.

Counting Movements – Ask your child to choose a number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10). Then choose an action such as jump, clap or wave. Ask your child to complete the action the number of times they chose. Repeat using different numbers and different actions.
