Good morning everyone. I hope you have had a good half term break. It would be lovely to hear about what you had been up to over the week. As we start our online learning again, I have my fingers crossed that we will soon be all back at school together.

We have two zoom sessions a day for children who want to attend. The sessions are at 11am and 1.30pm and I will read a story during each session.

  • Share stories with your children daily, they are hugely important in their learning.
  • Please sing or say rhymes with your child. If you do not know the tune, don’t worry. Your child might know it, or you can make up a tune or you could always say it rather than sing it. See Day 1 for the words to some of our popular rhymes.
  • Please find opportunities for counting daily. This might be when playing with toys, having tea, or walking up the stairs.

Pre-nursery

Come Outside – Boxes. Watch the video below to see Auntie Mabel and Pippen with lots of different boxes. See if you can find different boxes to play with around your house.

Language of capacity – Let your child experiment with different containers and something they can pour such as sand, pasta, rice etc. Encourage them to pour from one container to another and use the language of capacity such as full and empty.

Nursery

Phonics – Environmental Sounds – Hide one of your child’s toys in the room and then give them singing clues to help them find it. As they get closer sing the words ‘You are very near’ and repeat this getting louder the closer they get. As they start to look further away sing ‘you are far away’ and repeat this getting quieter the further away they are.

Please can you keep in touch with me via email to let me know how your child is getting on. Alternatively you could send me a message below. It would be lovely if you could send a photo or two of your children in their play. My email address is: clister@handale.rac.sch.uk

Take care,
