Hello Reception,

It has been lovely to hear from so many of you this week and I know you are all having lots of fun. I miss you all very much and hopefully soon we can be having lots of fun together in school. Today I would like you to work your socks off and I will award a badge to everyone who gets in touch to let me know what you have been doing.

Please remember I will do 2 drop-in zoom sessions a day, one at 10.30am and one at 2pm. You can ask any questions you wish to or show me some of your work. I will also read a story on an afternoon so feel free to drop in.

This mornings job is to practice writing some numbers. I would like you to practice your numbers from 1-5. You could draw your favourite animal to represent each number. I am going to draw 5 dogs for the number 5.

This morning our exercise is Yoga. It has been lovely to hear how much you all enjoy this and I can’t wait to do this all together once we are back at school.

Phonics Activity

Today, we are going to learn another new phase 3 phoneme. We are learning the diagraph ‘th’. This diagraph is a little bit tricky so I would like you to spend time watching the videos and thinking of words with the ‘th’ diagraph in. Remember to try and write some of those words and use one to make your own sentence. You are all superstars at this now.

Maths Activity

Days of the week

Today, we are going to think about the days of the week. Watch the story – Jasper’s Beanstalk and think about what Jasper does on each day. After watching the story write down all the days of the week, cut them up and see if you can put them in the correct order. You could then draw a picture of activities you do on each day of the week.

Reading

Today, we are going to finish the last part of the story ‘BOO’. It has been lovely to hear that some of you have particularly enjoyed this story. I hope you enjoy the ending of the story.

Other activities:

  • Read a phonics book on oxford owl or you can read your own phonics book if you have one. Remember to keep practicing so you become fluent with reading. Free eBook library | Oxford Owl from Oxford University Press
  • Tomorrow it is Chinese New Year. Dragons are a symbol of Chinese New Year, therefore you could create your own dragon. You could paint a picture of a dragon using lots of bright paints or you could draw a picture of a dragon using colouring pencils.
  • This week is safer internet week. Watch the story of Smartie the Penguin, I bet you will all enjoy it. If you would like to do any of the challenges at the end of the video please email them to me.

Well done Reception, your work for today is complete. I hope you have had a lovely day. Take lots of care, Miss Stone x
