My name is Miss Kendall and I am the Year 3 teacher.

In Year 3, we begin an exciting new chapter filled with learning, discovery and fun. This year, we build on the skills learned in Key Stage 1 and develop greater independence, confidence and curiosity. Our classroom is a happy and supportive space where everyone is encouraged to try their best, ask questions and celebrate each other’s successes.

Throughout the year, we dive into a wide range of engaging topics across all subjects. In English, we explore stories, poems, and non-fiction texts to strengthen our reading and writing skills. In maths, we tackle new challenges in multiplication, division, fractions, and problem-solving. Our science lessons encourage us to think like scientists as we investigate light, forces, rocks, plants, and animals. We also enjoy creative opportunities through art, design technology and music, while learning about the wider world in history, geography, and computing.

We place great importance on kindness, teamwork and respect—values that help our classroom community thrive. PE lessons and outdoor learning help us stay active and healthy and exciting trips, residentials and projects make learning come to life.

We are very lucky to be able to enjoy a calm classroom environment, with access to iPads and laptops as well as continuing to enjoy the school’s extensive outdoor areas and the school library to further enhance learning experiences.

We can’t wait to share our Year 3 adventures, achievements and discoveries with you throughout the year.

Throughout the year, we teach a variety of stimulating and exciting topics to engage the children in their learning. We aim for all pupils to develop a lifelong love of learning and develop the basic skills and knowledge to prepare our children for Year 4.

Please see below, our key map of knowledge to find out what we are learning.

At the beginning of each term, we send home a Learning Newsletter to parents and carers. This newsletter outlines the key topics and areas of learning that will be covered during the term.

We encourage parents and carers to use this as a starting point for conversations with their children about their learning. If you wish to explore any aspect further, you are welcome to reach out to us directly.
