“In Year 5, we’re growing our minds, our confidence and our kindness.”

Welcome to Year 5.

My name is Mr Williams and I am the Year 5 class teacher.

In our Year 5 classroom, we aim to nurture confident, independent learners who are ready to take on new challenges with enthusiasm and curiosity. We believe that learning is an adventure — one that grows through creativity, collaboration, and reflection. Whether we’re exploring fascinating topics, writing imaginative stories, or tackling tricky problems, we encourage one another to persevere, take risks, and be proud of our progress. Respect, kindness and teamwork are at the centre of everything we do, helping us to build a positive learning environment where everyone’s voice is heard. We also value the vital partnership with our parents and carers, who share in our learning journey and help us celebrate our achievements. Together, we make Year 5 a place where curiosity is celebrated, effort is recognised, and every child can shine.

At the beginning of each term, we send home a Learning Newsletter to parents and carers. This newsletter provides an overview of the key topics, skills and learning experiences that the children will explore during the term.

We encourage parents and carers to use this as an opportunity to talk with their children about what they are learning in school, share ideas, and make connections to the world around them. If you would like to find out more about any area of learning, or discuss how to support your child further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
